I Introduce you to...
The God of Glory
Last night I attended my fortieth grad reunion. Forty years. Wow! Where has time gone?
As I walked around the room the signs of aging were glaringly obvious … wrinkles, weight gain, balding, gray, to mention just a few. Our youthful glory was gone.
How timely to turn to my Bible today and read Psalm 29 about the God of Glory. He does not change, nor decay. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow He remains the same. There will be no shock when we see Jesus (like there was last night at what time had done to the good-looking, the strong, the high school jocks, the cheerleaders.)
In this devotional it is my privilege to expound upon the God of Glory, in the hopes that you will sing, pray, or recite the name of the God of Glory this week. Take a few short moments and turn to Psalm 29 and join me in this terrestrial song. Seven times in this chapter the voice of God is described by David, and I wish I could hear both the melody and these words as they were composed, (something to look forward to when we meet on the other side.)
Psalm 29 is a wonderful account of God's Glory and V3 says, "The God of Glory thunders …"
- V1 His strength
- V2 His holiness
- V3 His sovereign authority
- V4 His majesty
- V5 His power
- V6 The joy He gives
- V7 The power in His voice
- V8 How He shakes us out of our complacency
- V9 His glory
- V10 His Kingship
- V11 The strength and peace He blesses all believers with (which was so evident in the faces of the believers there last night. There was a calm, a peace, about them that could not be denied.)
Put this whole chapter together and the sum reveals the God of Glory. What an awesome God we serve.
Pray these verses with me. Ps. 29:1-2
"Give unto the Lord, O you mighty ones,
Give unto the Lord glory and strength.
Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name;
Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness."
If you want extra blessing right here, right now, take the time to listen to this song called King of Glory by Todd Dulaney and Shana Wilson Williams. I got lost in the praise and it made me excited for that day when we will all gather together before the God of Glory.
